ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Lauryn Lovett, a senior journalism major who loves amplifying the voices of others through compelling stories.
I will graduate in May from UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media & Journalism and Political Science. Throughout my time at UNC, I have developed skills in scriptwriting, video editing, interviewing, and on-camera presenting.
I was originally drawn to journalism as a way to help people through reporting important or untold stories. I have had the opportunity to do this several times, most recently in my story from our special last semester. After, a deadly shooting on campus last year, students, faculty, and the community were left unaware of what policies the university had in place. I interviewed the people in charge and demanded answers to the questions so many of us wanted answered.
During my four years, I have reported for three of UNC’s outlets: Carolina Week, our weekly student broadcast, Carolina Connection, our weekly student radio newscast, and Media Hub, a capstone reporting class. I also work at ABC11/WTVD-TV as a News Intern, where I work closely with reporters, photographers, and producers.
As I approach graduation, I am open to on-air reporting or multi-media journalism opportunities. I am interested in reporting on health, education, and politics.
